Dynamic young vocal ensemble The Marian Consort presents ‘Ave Maria’, a programme of music from two fertile periods in British musical history. Settings in honour of the Virgin Mary by composers from the era of Henry VIII are juxtaposed with complementary modern treatments of these Marian texts by twentieth and twenty-first century British composers. Many of these contemporary pieces have been written for the singers of The Marian Consort.
