As part of the Barnes Music Festival (this year celebrating its 10th anniversary), pianist Osman Tack performs a lunchtime recital of Stephen Dodgson’s Six Bagatelles: Set 2 (their first public performance – they were originally written for Bernard Roberts, who had recorded multiple Dodgson works but sadly became too ill to play them) alongside Chopin’s 24 Preludes Op. 28. Dodgson’s intriguing bagatelles use combinations of words and music to paint vivid and distinct pictures. With roots in Bach’s Well-Tempered Klavier as well as the Spanish and African influences of Majorca, Chopin’s Preludes take us on a gothic journey of life and death.
Osman is studying for a Master’s at the Royal College of Music with Sofya Gulyak and Danny Driver, having recently completed a PhD at the University of Oxford. He has a love for teaching and collaborating with singers, instrumentalists, composers and dancers.
